Actually rediscovered, courtesy of t'interweb. I once heard a reggae version of the Coronation Street theme. I think it was by the I-royals - can't find a clean copy on't't'web but it's there. Coincidentally, discovered the Skatalites back catologue...I could be a while. :happy-sunny:

A bit crackly in places, but if you scroll down the page you can find both the A and the B side linked here....

although from your comment about a 'clean' copy you may have already discounted this one.

The versions I found were overdubbed by DJs, so crackles 'n' all, these are cleaner. Thanks.

Lindsey Stirling. She plays a mean electric fiddle and she's very easy on the eye too. :D

and check this out. One violin, one voice, and multi-tracking to the max.

Dr. Dopo Jam. A Danish prog rock band from the late sixties/early seventies that I've found (as usual) by meandering through YouTube. The major touchstone would probably have to be Zappa, and so far I'm really liking this classic slice of Jazz/Rock fusion.

New(ish) prog that sounds as good as old classic prog. The band is Transatlantic, a 'super-group' consisting of Neal Morse from Spock's Beard, Dream Theater co-founder Mike Portnoy, Flower Kings' Roine Stolt and Marillion's Pete Trewavas. Apparently they use suitably aged gear (mini Moog, Mellotron etc.) alongside the latest kit, as opposed to trying to replicate some of those classic sounds with modern technology. It works.

I am now going to sit back with the perfect summer's eve drink (a large G+T with a generous splash of elderflower cordial) and bliss out for a while.

If you like Genesis, Marillion, Floyd, et al you'll probably like Transatlantic.

[EDIT]

Just finished listening to The Whirlwind, including the 'bonus' second CD. 4 new Transatlantic tracks plus 4 covers. I won't tell you what the covers are, suffice it to say that they are not 'obvious' covers, and they're bloody good covers.

[Another Edit]

...and there's a hidden track. I hope you like ukelele
