Left Right -whose best [musically]

After Jonny Marr politely suggested the PM should not listen to the Smiths , I found myself making the statement "right wingers make shit music and would be trounced by the left wingers any day of the week"
But is this true? So this is a thread to find out if it is true and test members knowledge as to the political affiliations of their favourite musicians or indeed any musician and establish and I in fact I have am wrong since the last time I Was in 1975
I have plenty up my sleeve so I wont start the matter off .
