Re: CUBE 1
I tried various combinations of stand and top plate set up with the cubes over the past few days. From least preferred to favourite...
Metal stand. Blu Tak on top plate. Initially impressive but with a hard edge and slight blurring. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it.
Metal stand. Blank top plate. Hard edge remained. Slightly better focus. Not a lot in it.
Metal stand. Oak cones on top plate. Much improved focus. Hard edge not entirely removed.
Metal stand. RDC cones on top plate. As previous iteration but marginally greater positive effect.
Wooden stand. Blu tack. Hard edge gone but sight blurring.
Wooden stand. Blank top plate. Blurring gone but timing still not as good as I know it can be.
Wooden stand. RDC cones on top plate. Improved focus.
Wooden stand. Oak cones on top plate. Most focussed and natural.
Hope this is helpful. YMMV.

Re: CUBE 1
Cheers Paul, I might just take a punt on some wooden cones. There's plenty of choice on fleabay

Re: CUBE 1
Paul I would be concerned about their stability. In a three set up is that two to the front and one to the back ?savvypaul wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 10:20 pmUse them in threesnilsatisnisioptimum wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 10:19 pm Cheers Paul, I might just take a punt on some wooden cones. Re: CUBE 1
That's the way that I have them. No problems with stability, but my wooden stands have a large top plate, which helps.nilsatisnisioptimum wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 12:08 amPaul I would be concerned about their stability. Re: CUBE 1
The small top plates of my stands make cones problematic for stability reasons, especially where Cube 1s are concerned. I am not aware of any issues with blue tac and think that the weight and inertia of the heavy filled in solid metal stands has a lot to do with this. I have cones and tried them on the second system. I found that washing machine rubber feet sounded better. I think this is all to do with their far from ideal placement on a cabinet. I think there is no all in one solution and it is horses for courses.

Horses for courses - yes, I agree.CN211276 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 9:39 am The small top plates of my stands make cones problematic for stability reasons, especially where Cube 1s are concerned. I have a concrete floor, so coupling is straightforward.
The Torlyte stands I was using have very small top plates in comparison to the size of the Cubes. I took them out when I got a dog. Far too easy to knock off.

I could recall Richard providing more information about speaker stands somewhere. Here it is in a number of posts.. Savvy and I (Ziggy) also contribute to the thread.
