A great example of RDs wisdom and his concise way of communicating his thoughts.

I found RDs comments on WAM very informative at the time. It is a good thing to have reference to them here as stands are so important and there is more than one solution.

Yes, go on - have a laugh.

But ...

I was having a sort through the provisions in the cellar and ran across some meat-paste pots that were about a decade over the sell-by date. Not safe for consumption any more.

For a while I had been wondering about the mounting of my Cubes on their stands. The metal top plate of the Foundations has some thin rubberised stick-on circles and I'd been looking at wooden cones. These little jars in my hand were about 4cm high and thick glass is pretty inert to resonance - could I use these as speaker feet?

A quick bout of emptying and cleaning later, I was ready to give it a try. Big surprise; the soundfield is sharper-edged, airier, more detached from the boxes and with a deeper 3D image. Bass seems to have gained in depth and articulation as well.

Notice how I have cleverly avoided using the adjective 'meatier'.

The character is brighter, although not irritatingly so, perhaps 'fresher' would be a better description. Now I will give these jars a good soak in hot water and clean the labels off, after which the whole thing should look a bit more chique.

Thought about that later - do have a load of short round candle-holders somewhere. Really heavy glass.

Got the labels off the jars and put them back under the Cubes, now only 3 feet per side for stability.

Will try this out for a few days and see if I like it.

Nah too dangerous (and the candles would go out). What you need is some stips of LEDs in each of them.

Now looking (slightly) less amateurish ...

I admire your eclectic take on speaker supports ~~~ if it sounds better to you then that's it, job done until the next flash of sonic inspiration 👍
