Well folks PRICE is leading the field at present, I thought it would be there or there about.
Shame (NVA excluded) more manufacturers don't seem to embrace this feature...!!!

I aint bought nuthin for years.
I just build what I need.
I used to fork out money like there was no tomorrow, after I got
into into that damnable Linn Naim, flat earth scene.
I no longer have a domestic PA system since I took to building stuff myself.
How anybody can still promote the domestic PA and keep a straight face
is beyond my comprehension.

Somebody’s telling me the latest scandals.

I would love to have the skills to build stuff. Given that I struggled with Lego and was overwhelmed by the complexity of Meccano, maybe it's just beyond me!SteveTheShadow wrote:I aint bought nuthin for years.

Still, the saving grace is finding people like The Doc, who build great kit and manage to make a living without the need to screw people on prices, or make music lovers pay a huge cut to dealers.
One of my favourite bits is when he posts pics of his builds. Mind you, I just love pics of hifi full stop, so if anyone fancies posting more pics of their kit or their own builds, I for one, would love to see them.

looks, price and gut instinct for me. following forum discussion / recomendation is just as daft as buying 5* mag review products. in my experience if its getting talked up theres a very high chance those doing the talking up either own it, sell it or own shares in it or all three :D
look for the products whose owners express their contentment with silence (too busy enjoying it to wax lyrical every waking breath) & only change things once it breaks or outlives its use - all imho of course.

Yep price still coming out on top - I think to most of us it would be great if we could try before we buy.
Now Doc and others offer this service, but imho its still a bit of a chore - 8 times out of 10 if you go this route, you have placed your trust (by whatever means) and will
end up going for it, after all who can be arsed boxing it all back up again to return item.....(You will have done yer homework).
