Wales are a shadow of the team they were in 2016 and I did not have high expectations. They did very well to qualify for the first time in my life time and I might well have gone to support them had the tournament been anywhere else.

On the basis of what I have seen I see Brazil as the most likely winners with France the main danger. Argentina and Spain have possibilities.

“The World Cup that keeps giving”
Try telling that to lgbt+ community, migrant workers, women and anybody else the Doha regime takes a dislike too.
My niece teaches there, but has taken the opportunity to visit her sister in New Zealand as the schools are closed for the duration of the World Cup.

Who do I support?

In this context, nobody, they plan with the wrong shaped ball.

That Morocco match. I thoroughly enjoyed it, including the 25 minutes in the 2nd half when I was asleep.

Let's see if
Morocco
Netherlands
Croatia
can provide more laugh out loud entertainment this week-end...

Thus far minutes of football watched = 0
Projected minutes of football likely to be watched = 0
Team supported in the next round = Franceland
Team supported in the round after, hopefully Franceland, but if not then whoever Engerland are playing.

I used to enjoy international football, but now I can't abide the whole Jekyll & Hyde mentality of the Engerland fans. Currently we're in the 'We love you to bits' phase. If perchance they do win on Saturday, then we will enter the 'We really really love you to bits and bits and bits' phase.
Regardless of how far, or how well the team actually perform, unless they actually win the trophy we will of course enter the 'We absolutely utterly fucking hate you, and where the fuck are some of you really from?' phase. This is the part I can't abide and for that reason now choose to blank the whole sorry affair.

Only reason I have watched any is because my 12 year old son wanted to. Otherwise I would be in the same position as you Tim.

I love footy, I used to love playing the game, and for a short, while I helped coach a youth team.

I support Liverpool FC and England.

Supporting Liverpool was a choice I made when I was 11 years old, in 1965. Supporting England has nothing to do with football. I also support the England rugby teams (both codes, both sexes), and the England cricket teams, and would probably support the England Kabaddi team if there was a match on telly.

This World Cup got off to a slow start, but there has been some great football played, and some brilliant goals scored and saves made.

I also started supporting Liverpool when I was eleven. My dad used to take me to see Cardiff City and John Toshack was their star player and my idol. Before one match I met him in the car park and he signed my programme. Then Liverpool came along with what was very big money at the time, around £110,000 and signed him. My allegiance transferred and he would set up a good striking partnership with Kevin Keegan.

Because FIFA is rotten to the core nothing could be done about the venue for this World Cup, as the last one. Have enjoyed the football though. Just glad I did not place any bets with all the shock results.

I don't begrudge anyone who is watching the WC, or any flavor of footie for that matter, it's just not for me. The last team I enjoyed watching was Barnet FC when I lived round the corner from Underhill. It seem rude not to go, and you couldn't argue with a team who started their 3rd division career with a 3 - 7 (or was it 4) loss on their debut. Lost badly we did, much fun was had.
