Uncouth Yet Musical.
Can you chaps make a list of speakers that are ''uncouth but yet musical'' sounding.

Re: Uncouth Yet Musical.
For me the two things are mutually exclusive. Some speakers will sound dog rough if not correctly partnered but that is because they are genuinally revealing. Some speakers sound uncouth because they are crap.
Re: Uncouth Yet Musical.
I really enjoyed a pair of JBL L110 standmount monitors.
I bought them on a whim after a couple of years of owning very sophisticated sounding Kharma Ceramique 3 speakers. I was in real bad need of just letting my hair down and headbanging after the Kharmas! The JBLs hit the spot with their unbridled enthusiasm and wide open mids which didn't quite veer into the unacceptably uncouth. Huge fun.
I suspect other JBLs of that vintage would be similarly enjoyable.

Re: Uncouth Yet Musical.
Properly revealing speakers are rarely 'uncouth' in my opinion and experience (not just with BBC types at all). I mean, Quad 57's and properly set up 63's are incredibly revealing and involving, but NEVER sound rough as a badgers bum unless it's further back in the chain.....

JBL L100... but only musical if the music is rock.
Technics SB-440 would fit your uncouth yet musical criteria.
