Recommend that you use a reasonable pair of headphones for this - where you know that the range can get to 20,000Hz.
Using my Grado SR80's I could just manage 15,000 Hz. Not bad considering the abuse I gave my hearing in days gone past.

I had a hearing test at my local hospital recently. A flu virus I caught during November got into both my middle ears and wrecked my hearing, causing Bells Palsy on the right side of my face as a nice little extra. Because of my age and the side of my face freezing, I was tested for stroke and got the full works including a CAT scan which was clear. The Bell's Palsy has now thankfully cleared up.
The hearing damage however has not. I now have nothing above 10KHz and the Consultant reckons thats about as good as it's going to get.
Therefore I am no longer in a position to comment on anything regarding Hi-Fi.

Bad news, Steve. Hope that your hearing recovers a bit.
If it doesn't then you can always buy a Naim amp to show off to your friends.

Headphone hf is all over the place on many and no two pairs of ears are same for fitting. My 'DJ' HD25SP's have a peak at 5k and 'ripples' either side, so one lower high frequency can be down and another higher one peaked up..
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
No point in me taking the test at the moment, I've had a throat infection which could make the results invalid.
I have had several hearing tests over the last 10 years in sealed booths for work related health monitoring, the last one about a year ago. Although I can't remember the actual results the doctors have always been surprised by the amount of high frequency hearing that I have retained for my age (50). I don't see it as totally positive though, I find I am very sensitive to sibilants and can hear those high frequency cat scarers that I'm not supposed to be able to detect at my age which makes it very uncomfortable walking past places that have them..
