Speaker placement

Some of you will have read my report of a comment made by the mastering engineer Boppin Bob Jones in relation to why we don't have speakers one each side of us. Well on Friday I was in a church where this is exactly how the speakers are placed. Bob would have found, as I did, that it just doesn't work there is no interaction between the speakers and all you hear is the nearest one. In reality we respond most positively to sound sources some way in front of us.
