Something sculpted like these would be better than straight pipe?

Yeah that would be better but to be honest I can't be bothered to make anything Maybe some vases would be a god shape and about the right height for my purpose.

Have to agree with Latteman a shaped pedestal would look better, I've just searched ebay for something suitable with no success

That's kind of you to have a look Dave, thanks. If I had a lathe then I could do it no problem but sadly I don't.

Not a gad idea but their diameter might be a bit too wide.

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Thanks for the ideas so far.
Best I have found so far is this hour glass shaped stool at £18 a pop. Made of the finest plastic of course but I don't care about that so much. Bit taller than I would like (45cm) but I am thinking about it. The bottom of the sphere might not fit inside. Diameter at the top of the stool is about 30cm (same as my spheres) but it tapers in quite abruptly.
Maybe I could cut them down a bit to get a nice curve where the stand meets the sphere. Or are they too cheap and nasty looking ? Argos tat.
Opinions please

Re: Doc modding Marantz imperial 7
Edit to last post....
As these stools are twice the height of the pvc pipe I have been using then I could just use half the stool for each speaker. I think they come in two parts as there is a join line in the middle and the box they come in is smaller than the height of the stool.
If I do that then one stool at £18 will do for the pair of speakers. And I won't have to paint them like I would with the drainage pipe although the stool is slightly glossy and I didn't want that but hey you can't have everything.
The chipboard cubes I am using now are only 47cm to the top of the mid bass cab and they sound good at that height. You get to hear a bit more direct sound from the up firing mid bass.

I'll take those likes as thumbs up then. I will purchase a black hour glass stool for £18 from Argos and see what they are like in the flesh.
