"Rely on the critic, nothing escapes him,"

This shows there were a lot around ready to swallow bullshit from very early on. The docs opening post to hi-fi as a hobby gives a good explanation as to why it took so long for an opportunist, Ivor, to make hay.

Reminds me of my first system. Teleton SAQ 25, Garrard SP25MK2 and Wharfdale unit 3's. Took ages to build the unit 3's and solder up all the DIN plugs for the amp (was very glad to see phonos which are a lot easier). The speakers sat on the floor and it sounded a lot better than my mum and dad's old Dansette. But life has moved on - but I still like making things (Hello Colin)

By some strange coincidence, so was I. The film is no longer representative of hifi enthusiasts though, as few these days would be able to buy the bits and assemble them like the blokes in the film.
