Hi, just had a failed phono 1 transformer- I’ve looked online and find there are many- is there any advantage to changing the transformer or best to stick with stock rates

I see you have some kind of external transformer. What type?
What are you thinking of buying ?

I had a power supply- a 240v transformer with a couple of caps & dc filter feeding ‘clean’ power to the phono1 transformer- it just died today- no over heat no warning. I just wondered if there was any potential transformer upgrade otherwise I’ll just order a replacement from Farnells
Cheers

Yes and no ;]
If you want to keep p1 transformer inside then i would go for the same spec/size
if you want to move it to external enclosure then you can
you have only one regulator board inside p1 so you cannot go double on transformers
but nothing wrong with doubling VA rating and doubling caps value (or so maybe even upgrading them but I do not think it is necessary ) - since you already feeding it with "clean" power and blocking DC
then there will be little to no benefit for going for some kind of exotic expensive transformer

Sorry getting confused - did your external PSU died or internal p1 transformer?
