Damm

🤬 just knocked the tip off my Grado wood bodied reference mm
It was new to me £160 on eBay about a year ago and is £300-400 new
Does anyone have info on Re tipping cost or should I forget it

It will probably cost you more than you paid for it to have a new Cantilever and stylus put on it
Depends if you are willing to spend the required on having it fixed or wether a new cart is a better option financially.
Northwest analogue or Expert stylus company are a good bet, depends if they will take on the job
You can borrow my ultimo 20a if you are stuck for a cart

As Ant says, it's near enough the same value cartridge as the re-tipping costs, so it depends on how much you like the Grado or if you fancy a change and buy a new one.

If you want to send it to Germany, Franz-Josef Schulte does a very good work. Retipping with an elliptical stylus is 125 EUR. Tonabnehmerservice.de

I don't know the wood body Grado's as well as the prestige line, but isn't the stylus as replaceable as on these lower models?

You're welcome. Some years ago his predecessor Axel Schürholz did a Yamaha MC-9 for me with this stylus. Sounded as good as before and lasted over 1500 hours. Franz-Josef Schulte worked within the company for years before taking it over after the retirement of his boss.

Going to cost me in the Uk about £380 minimum so with the cost in mind I’m gonna look for something else- in the mean time eco stick, shim & patience
