Ritchie Sacramento and Dry Fantasy -great tracks.
Japan and Mick Kahn - great listening.
Once saw Japan back in the day supporting Blue Oyster Cult - seemed a bit odd at the time, but nevertheless great night out!
Definitely an odd cult there! I have paid much more attention to Japan now in '21 than I did in '81. There is a video somewhere on YouTube, where all the music has been removed except the bass and drums, great interaction between the two. However, I can't remember the title? something like '' the art of..?'' Worth a listen. cheers.

As You suggest an odd mixture!
June 2nd 1978 and Japan weren’t particularly well received by the hard rock BOC fans - beer glasses greeted them which was a shame, but not a surprise bearing in mind the genre and persona differences!
For those of us with a more open mind I thought they handled it well and I noticed Mick Kahn’s bass playing for the first time.
I agree with you I take more notice of Japan now that I did then.
It was the opposite for me then with BOC - apparently they will be appearing at the same venue in Oct 2022!
Might just toddle along to see what’s what!
Along with the other silver surfers unlike recent shots of the band - not a grey hair in sight!

Patti Smith - a creative force.

I was a fascinated 9 year old when a friend and me watched OGWT at his parents house. I still get that kick in the stomach. Check out the Midnight Oil cover - she owns it.

Excellent choice! I saw het at Plug venue in Sheffield, when I was working there about 15 years ago. Powerful concert! I feared her wrath for some strange reason and was praying the crowd wouldn't upset her. As it happened it all went smoothly and everyone had a lovely time!
Incidently, the geezer I went with, got married as a result of a 1st date having no less than 5 Patti Smith albums. I reckon it was more because the night?

A little nightcap...

...kickin' off with kickass blues!

Then, drinkin' up country...

...and, finally, over to the professionals!

Let the grasses grow and the waters flow in a free and easy way
Just give me enough of the fine old stuff that's brewed near Galway Bay
Come gougers all from Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim too
We'll give them the slip and we'll take a sip of the rare old mountain dew
Skid-ree Idle-diddle dum skid-ree Idle-diddle dum
Skid-ree Idle-dum diddle dum day
Skid-ree Idle-diddle dum skid-ree Idle-diddle dum
Skid-ree Idle-dum diddle dum day
There's a neat little still at the foot of the hill, and smoke twirls up to the sky
For the smoke and the smell, its plan to tell that there's poteen brewing near by
It fills the air, with an odor rare, and betwixt both me and you
When home you stroll, you can take a bowl, or a bucket of the mountain dew
Skid-ree Idle-diddle dum skid-ree Idle-diddle dum
Skid-ree Idle-dum diddle dum day
Skid-ree Idle-diddle dum skid-ree Idle-diddle dum
Skid-ree Idle-dum diddle dum day
Now learned men who use the pen, have written their praises high
That sweet poteen from Ireland green, distilled from wheat and rye
Throw away your pills, it will cure all ills, of the pagan, the Christian or Jew
Take off your coat and grease your throat, with the real old mountain dew
Skid-ree Idle-diddle dum skid-ree Idle-diddle dum
Skid-ree Idle-dum diddle dum day
Skid-ree Idle-diddle dum skid-ree Idle-diddle dum
Skid-ree Idle-dum diddle dum day
