That's very troubling to read because he is enough of shit to to screw the country to help his already stinking rich pals get even richer. It's also begs the question how someone like Rees Mogg who runs a hedge fund is allowed to have a senior role that invariably means he is close to people in the know.

What annoys me here is that nobody is pretending that the EU is perfect, indeed there are many things that need looking at, regardless of the result, slow growth and the debts of some of the member states must still be concerning Germany/France.

But the sad fact is that 'we' did vote for this, and I guess if you believe in democracy, then you have to respect the result however nefariously it was obtained. But whatever your view on Brexit is, these numbnuts have had 4 and a half years to do a deal, and they have failed abjectly. What's worse is that I've yet to meet a Brexiteer who can articulate what benefits we will receive as a country once we've been unshackled from the evil empire. For goodness sake I could throw together a crib sheet on most subjects in 45 minutes with the help of the interweb and a rough understanding of the questions likely to be asked. Yet this seems to be beyond the wit of our Leave obsessed compatriots.

If I thought our Covid response was streets ahead of our European neighbours I'd be happy to say fair enough, but I can't really see that we've excelled on that front. Indeed I love the assertions of European corruption, inefficiency and waste, when stacked against a bent PPE sourcing model and a test and trace system that has swallowed £22bn with little actual result.

I sincerely hope that we do get a deal of some description, because as much as I would like to say 'told you so' this is a sandwich that we all have to eat regardless of political hue.

That said one obvious benefit of Brexit is turning Kent into a very public toilet for lorry drivers, couldn't happen to a nicer county...

I was watching the local news last night. They were doing vox pops in Sunderland. The reporter was explaining that NIssan have said that their plant will be unsustainable in the event of a no deal. The responders were 'not really too worried'. When the reporter then explains that 36,500 jobs are at stake, they say 'summit 'll turn up, won't it?'

It's just amazing how docile the British electorate are, a major employer is being driven out of the north east and the people who WILL suffer are indifferent ffs.

A decision made on emotion.

Cornish voters are now starting to wonder how they might replace the £700 million a year they receive in EU subsidies.
