It's Christmas Time

With 10 days to go until Christmas, it is time for seasonal cheer, goodwill to all men and a merry singsong around the Yule log (Social Distancing permitting).

The same hoary old chestnuts of Christmas Past bombard us from the radio and bring back the nostalgic melancholy of the world as it used to be.

Everyone has a Crimbo favourite song and the ones we love to hate. So let's hear what they are. The cornier the better, no questions asked, no judgement on taste.

Me? I adore Greg Lake's totally overblown 'I Believe in Father Christmas'.

What makes me cringe? 'Last Christmas' by Wham.

Here's a bit of old-fashioned Xmas-crooning from the lovely Silje Nergaard.
She's from Norway - so has a direct line to Santa's North Pole home.

'The Very First Christmas Without You'.

Just makes you want to curl up in front of a log fire and watch the snow.

A Christmas Gift For You - Phil Spector.
Take your pick. My personal faves off that album are:
Sleigh Ride (ringalingalingalingdongding) and Winter Wonderland. 🎄🎄🎄

CAUTION!! If you don't know Kev, his language is *industrial; strength* to say the least. Don't play in front of the kids.

If you go to YouTube and search Kev's Christmas Album there are quite a few hilarious little ditties.

For the real deal though, you can't beat Shane and Kirsty.

Here's a couple for Paul.

I (genuinely) love Christmas songs; just not the Christmas songs that everybody else loves. I've even got BB King's Christmas Album.

One more, and then we could use them as the "3 before bedtime" on Christmas Eve.

Keef Richards covered this, and so did The Boss, but this is my winner-winner-Christmas-Dinner...
