Re: NVA on YT, but with a difference
My thoughts?
On the left is an AP30 that has been buggered about a little - cables tied together, extra inputs added, detachable mains lead.
On the right is an AP30 that has been buggered about a lot - presumably by a company that sells a lot of crazy priced boutique parts. A few of those fancy (C-Mode) capacitors probably cost more than the whole amp did when Richard sold it new.

Initially I wasn’t impressed then (as it warmed up I presume) the artist in the first song actually started to sing rather than narrate- enjoyed listening to it - cheers

It's a shrug of the shoulders for me. Lefson altered the circuitry, changed some parts and it's sounds different -- well whadda know
Best bit for me was the white lab coat with its subliminal message of " we are scientists"

For me, what it comes down to at the end of the day, is no matter how good your rig at home you're still listening to YouTube.

Nobody can comment on the sound listening to a you tube video. You can however appreciate the economics.

You could also take the white coat to mean "We are butchers".nilsatisnisioptimum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 11:22 am It's a shrug of the shoulders for me. Lefson altered the circuitry, changed some parts and it's sounds different -- well whadda know

The key questions are:
How much does a Lefson modded AP30 cost?
And how does it sound compared to what else you could buy? With a good starting point being what else you could buy in terms of original NVA equipment for the same money.
The Lefson mods might be worth the money, or they might not. Best way to find out is to put it to the test...
