Out of curiosity, I have just taken the W-Mat off the TT and shone a strong light through it, then I saw that there are lots of tiny grains/bubbles inside the acrylic plate. This leads me to think that the makers have incorporated similar energy-dissipation thinking as Funk with the Achromat - this mat is making an incredible (and cost-effective) difference to the sound.
I'm lovin'it !

Just got one of these - a Tonar Trackurate stylus pressure gauge.
Excellent little device that told me my Grado MCZ was tracking at a slightly too-heavy 1.8g. Now adjusted to precisely 1.6g and sounding a little crisper and more spacious.

I hope you at least took the platter mat off to try and allow for the thickness of the gauge
