Not nice to see Eunice
My part of the world has escaped the worst, today. Up to around 70mph on the tops but no significant damage reported.
Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Re: Not nice to see Eunice
Just over the peak of it now, still blowing a severe gale outside (90km/h).
Will be inspecting tomorrow morning for any damage - the farmhouse is 300 years old and has seen worse.

No damage, an old section of garden fence was buckeling but is still standing. Went for a walk late afternoon when the wind died down and it was so quiet it seemed like a return to lock down. Did not see any structural damage, except on the local news. Branches scattered everywhere, mainly small.

Re: Not nice to see Eunice
It does nothing for my nervous disposition. The mature Scots pine, beech and sycamore trees 15 metres from my mum's house were flailing about like I've never seen. It was certainly an arse clenching experience for about three hours. It's times like that I either want to hide in a cave, get mind numbingly drunk or both.

Re: Not nice to see Eunice
It was bad here in London I had to cancel appointment to Bart's. Then they rang me with bad new, feeling scared, heart has a leak into chest and the valve need replacing, heart has gone just before Xmas from 95% OK to 35% not good. No wonder I passing out and falling more often then normal, no booze involved honest.
So I will remember this windy day now.

Driving back in my van from Holmfirth to Ashton-u-Lyne over the tops was a real white knuckle ride this afternoon. Done the same route back now for 9 years and the wind was the worst that I can remember. More to come they reckon.

Trust all will work out. The only guarantee life comes with is that we walk off the end one day. Let's hope that's not to soon?

Re: Not nice to see Eunice
A friend of mine has had a heart valve replaced, twice, he comment was that the first time was an adventure, the second was inconvenient. Hope it goes well Colin.Wonfor14 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 9:39 pm It was bad here in London I had to cancel appointment to Bart's. A bit of wind damage is repairable. You (and the rest of us), as a person are irreplacable.
