Remembered another one, a kenwood kd-07, that was another lovely little direct drive deck. Quite compact, and the arm on it was pretty nice too. Looked like a biscuit tin with the lid on though

:handgestures-thumbup: that's a show stopper list Ant - I doubt there are many people around (even big hi-fi dealers) who have had so many decks. Kudos to you and your knowledge

That price is barmy. It wasnt 900 quid good by any means

That list also shows my inability to exercise self control......

Its rediculous looking at it in black and white

Could easily do that with the mkl 15 motor although i have got a new hanpin motor and boards, the one that is in the audio technica at lp5. That would be more appropriate to use
The platter is a lightweight pressed thing so it'd want a proper platter making which is why i havent got round to using it. I now have the tools to make a platter hub that will fit the taper on the spindle though.

Strangely I don’t think I’ve heard the jvc or the jbe- there are several jvc on eBay- do u reckon they are a good buy- I am really looking for a motor unit to add an arm too as I think- could be wrong- but the arms seem to be ‘the weak link’
Cheers

Something like the ql a7, a5, that sort of thing would have an arm you could fit or change. I think the a7 uses the tt71 motor unit, these may have a jvc ua5045 arm which is very good
The y3f and y5f cant easily have the arm removed as it is tied into the controls on the front panel, and quite frankly there is no need to with those, you might as well get something else if you want to play around with arms
