The Festival Season

The Netherlands is a big festival land - there are events everywhere for pretty well everyone and everything, including our village's annual 'Boeruh Rock' (Farmer's Rock) which is 2 days of truck & tractor pulling, wheelbarrow races, throwing the WC pot, etc. and terrible music.

I am providing sleeping accommodation for the festival's security staff, necessary as the country folk here can be a rowdy lot - especially after a few beers. But that's life out in the sticks!

As long as there is enough mud and beer !!!

Looks like fun! Alcohol is served there? How late at night does it go until?

Alcohol is beer, beer and more beer (almost invariably Heineken). :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingfaded:

The music shuts down around 1.00 am and the security team returned to their beds here at about 4 am.

The festival site is about a half-mile from me (open fields) but luckily the wind was blowing most of the noise away, although when the big truck-pulling machines are running - you can literally feel the ground shaking and the smell of burning oil and smoking tyres carries a long way.

I'll be giving the team a cup of coffee when they wake up and will hear the stories about how it all went from them.

:orcs-cheers:

A message on FB tells me that my teenage niece is at Reading Festival. Bringing back memories of the time I attended EXACTLY 40 years ago.

Where have the decades gone ?

A friend of mine went to the 83 Reading festival. The stand out performers were Thin Lizzy and Marillion.. He was not impressed by Black Sabbath fronted by Ian Gillan. I note that Suzi Quatro was on the bill. We have tickets to see her in November.

I well remember getting soaked at Reading '75'. :(
Went to see YES, they were supported by Supertramp and Thin Lizzy as well as a few other acts.

I was at Leeds for Billie Eilish specifically but Imagine Dragons were very good

So well organised now unlike the previous times I went- the only queues were for food n drinks- drove straight in and out- unbelievable 👍🏼
