Fitting new cartridge.

I pushed out the boat and bought a new cartridge. A hana EL MC. On fitting this to the Jelco headshell I had a ham-fisted moment and put too much pressure on the blue wire tube-end and it's now slightly pressed together, making sliding onto the cartridge male connector impossible.

Having tried to pry it apart with a razor blade and some thin pliers failed. I'm not delicate enough and don't have any small enough tools.

How would you fix it ? Is this a case of getting new wires for the headshell ?

Use a pair of long nosed pliers to hold the tag just behind the barrel that is supposed to slip over the cartridge tag.
Push a suitably sized sewing needle into the end of the tag and carefully work the tag out to the right size. FFS watch your fingers! ie don’t push on the needle too hard.
I have used this method successfully. It works a treat if you are careful.

Thanks SteveTheShadow it worked. First impression is:- a laid back conservative presentation. A little too laid back compared to the last MC cart I had but I'll give my ears time to adjust and see if my hearing becomes used to this mellow approach.
