Phono stage tingle

I use a Musical Fidelity XLP phono stage, and noticed recently when the power is on and my finger touches the edge of the front cover an electrical hum or tingle can be felt.
Is this normal or a sign of a problem ?

No idea but I'd check the earth connections.

I occasionally get that from a MacBook, it isn't uncommon and it is probably you discharging through the case.

With the power off and plug removed there's still a (mild) tingle when fingers are stroked over the outside edge of the facia. Static from me I guess. It's stronger when the juice is flowing.

Power supply capacitors may hold charge for several hours after switch off. Leave off for a few hours and recheck for tingle. Regardless, your experience suggests there is a fault. Get it checked by a competent person.

The P20 power amp is on the shelf beneath the XLP, and when powered on the tingle is at its strongest. maybe due to the acrylic casework rather than metal allowing a larger electrical field to spread. Doesn't really matter because sound quality is unaffected. Although sound quality tests undertaken with my finger touching the phono stage haven't been run - yet .
