High Res Audio Files

Unread post by George Hincapie »

Evening Guys.

I happened across this link this evening. You can download all of these tracks for free in all digital formats. The quality is stunning. Each track is from a different album which you can buy from their store if you wish at reasonable prices IMHO.

I am quite fond of Arnesen: MAGNIFICAT 4. Et misericordia.

Enjoy :guiness;

Very nice George - thanks for the link. :grin:

I do like Britten (the Frank Bridge Variations are good) and some Gjello and Finzi, both composers in the repertoire of my choir (have performed 'Come Away Death' ).

The diferent formats are useful to test the capabilities of your DAC and digital source; some of the higher resolution FLAC and DSD files cause problems when processors and data links cannot work fast enough, and you hear drop-outs or stuttering. Most current devices downgrade DSD streams to PCM format - so look for 'native DSD' playback and see if it works.

Cheers. :guiness;

I have downloaded some music but am unable to open or play it. For some reason a word document is appearing. Grateful for any advice. Please be aware that I am completely non tech and not familiar with downloading music. My music sources are Tidal and ripped CDs.

Thanks

What software do you use to play your ripped CDs? Open that and then use the open file dialogue for whatever software it is to have the software open it and it ought to play without issue.

Also, which file did you download? If you got one of the DSD files then you'll need software capable of playing it. I used a free program called Music Bee which works beautifully.

Thanks. I had downloaded a red file. Downloaded a 24 bit one and it plays on windows media player and sounds great. Would like to play the red one, but can't install music bee. Don't know what I am doing wrong. Is there something simpler for a non tech?

The installer downloads as a zip file. Double click on the zip to open, then double click on the file inside to install. Easy peasy Japanesey.

I regret I am getting nowhere.

When I enter the site I click on a link saying "Download Now". Then I am taken to a page with a link saying "Get Music bee installer" which I click on. I am then taken to a page with a link saying "Download Now" which I click on. During the download a lot of unrelated sites appear and at the end I get a message to the effect that some sort of free trial has expired and I am back where I started.

I there a simpler way I can play a DSD download?

I am not sure why you are having an issue.

Go to download folder and double click on the zip file. A window will pop open as so. Double click the executable to start the install.

All done - simples. Follow what I have shown you above and it ought to install without issue.

I still have not been able to install it, but found out that it will not play DSD files as DSD. I will use another site.
