There was a thing in the 60's about omni speakers, started in Scandinavia (mostly Sweden) with Sonab. Japanese made some because they always jump on any passing bandwagons. JVC made some hanging ones. They are interesting but not based on the semi omni design principles I use which root back to the USA and Roy Allison.
There are still a few of this type that I see in pics of crazy rooms at Hamburg show and similar.
