The only reason I use valves is because they sound better to my ears. If I heard a solid state amp I preferred over valves, I would use it.

I've been able to check out some of the final bid prices, which are in many cases much higher than eBay prices - EG Technics 1210 for £460 + 40%.

i don't listen to the BBC world service anymore. It's a shame, I used to like listening to them over a crackling SW receiver. But I don't really miss them anyways... they have become to full of themselves and are competing with other news "outlets" over the news like vultures over a carcas. How vulgar. Sorry off topic.
