I've had a delivery of Super Sound Cord this morning. So I'll be replacing the Sound Cord between the PL71 and the Phono2 and between the Phono2 and the P90SA later on.
In the past I've tended to replace the interconnects along with other components, so I've basically taken the sonic superiority of the interconnect on trust. This is the first time I've replaced just the interconnect.
I shall be posting my impressions here.

Re: Something for the weekend...
Initial impressions. And this is very early days, based on a farly short session, no doubt I need to let things run in, and I have to sort a problem where I think I'm getting a bit of hum induced by cables running too near the power amps.
I'm listening to 'Monk's Dream' (Thelonius). There's vocalisations from the musicians I hadn't noticed before and Monk's piano seems a bit more fluid.
I shall attempt to keep this updated.

Shotgunned cables are always a bit more susceptible to hum pick up from transformers, hopefully you can lay the cable where there is no hum pick-up.

Should be able to, but it will require a bit of furniture/kit rearrangement.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Shotgunned cables are always a bit more susceptible to hum pick up from transformers, hopefully you can lay the cable where there is no hum pick-up.

Re: Something for the weekend...
I have a handful of LPs and some time. So,time to resurrect the thread.
However, first up I couldn't resist something I've not played for a long time The Average White Band LP. So this is more PL71 NVA vs Linn/Exposure. Probably not the greatest pressing (Fame label cheapo reissue). So mostly what I'm noticing is the usual NVA stuff - musical parts having more of their own character: vocals, sax and bass guitar in particular; more detail down in the mix; more distinction between the different instruments.

Re: Something for the weekend...
Now I'm on Jools Holland "Rocking Horse'". Again this is maybe not a good comparison. This is my second listen to the album. First listening, I think I was a bit overwhelmed by it. The SSC seems to have pushed the presentation back a little. Jools seems to prefer a sort of Shure Bullet presentation for the sound (vocals especially). But all this is niggling because this is really rocking,

RD I'm sure you have been asked this before, but have you ever thought of selling SSP 'shotgunned" ?
